The weather provided us with some challenging conditions this weekend but we managed to scrape together a decent feed for our punters and reeled in quite a few fish.

Saturday got off to a rough start with strong south-easterly winds and a two metre easterly swell before calming to a great afternoon. Sunday gave us a calm start. I love being out on the water in the early morning.

Saturday was a ¾ day trip, fishing on the Caloundra Nine Mile and Caloundra 12 Mile Reefs. We reeled in squire, tuskfish, sweetlip and bonito, which provided good bait for Jamie’s 3kg blue-barred parrotfish. It gave him a great fight and is exceptional eating quality. Hope you enjoyed it mate.

On Sunday we headed to Barwon Banks. We had a successful day reeling in a variety of species including fusilier, hussar, trevally, a few nice tuskfish and a 2kg green jobfish. By late morning strong north-easterly winds shut the big fish down and we were catching lots of red throat emperor and coral trout that were just undersize.

The making moon phase generally fishes better so we are looking forward to this weekend as the new moon rolls over.  The weather is looking great for Friday and hopefully the rest of the weekend follows suit.

I recommend fishing the inshore reefs for snapper or, if the weather allows Caloundra Wide has been producing some nice pearl perch.
